The ingredients needed to make Dal Bukhara:
- You need 1 cup of Whole black urad dal.
- Provide 2-3 tbsp of cooking oil.
- Prepare 1 tsp of cumin seeds.
- Provide 1 tbsp of coriander powder.
- You need 1 tsp of garam masala powder.
- Get 1 of large onion.
- Use 4-5 of garlic cloves.
- Take 1 inch of ginger peeled and washed.
- Get 1-2 of chopped green chillies.
- Use 3 of medium size tomatoes pureed.
- You need 6-7 tbsp of unsalted butter.
- Use 1/4 cup of cooking cream.

Instructions to make Dal Bukhara:
- Wash and soak the dal in enough water for about 8 hours..
- Than add 4 to 5 cups water with little salt and pressure cook the lentils for 5-6 whistles..
- Meanwhile grind onion and garlic cloves to make a paste and set aside to be used later..
- Similary grind tomatoes, green chillies and ginger piece to make tomato paste..
- After 5-6 whistles turn off the gas and let pressure settles down it's own,When the pressure settles down on it's own, open the lid of the pressure cooker..
- Now heat oil in a big wide pan or kadhai and add cumin seeds. Add onion paste to it and saute till it turns golden brown..
- Once onion paste is cooked add all the dry spices except garam masla and sauté again for a minute..
- Add tomato paste and roast till it start leaving oil from the edges..
- Add cooked dal into prepared masala with 2 cups of water and mix it very well..
- Now reduce the flame to low and let it cook for 55 -60 minutes..
- Meanwhile keep on stirring often, so that the dal don't stick at the bottom of the pan or kadai. Also mash some of the lentils while stirring..
- Now add cream (reserve 1tsp cream for garnishing) and butter to it and let it cook for 20-25more minutes..
- Once done,check the taste and add more red chilli powder or salt if required..
- Lastly sprinkle garam masala powder and stir well..
- Before serving add a tsp spoon of cream to dal..
- Serve hot dal bukhara with rice or with naan, paratha or rotis..
